The Beacon Hill Station is a subterranean station that uses elevators to provide service to the Beacon Hill neighborhood that sits about 160 feet above the stations twin tunnels, with the entrance being at the cross section of Beacon Avenue South and South Lander Street. Above, within a short walk there is a market, an assortment of small shops, restaurants, and pubs lining Beacon Avenue. Since the light rail started running in 2009 it has helped revitalize the area and increase the number of new businesses opening there.
